It’s Time to Re-Build: Restructured God’s Way

It’s Time to Re-Build: Restructured God’s Way – Apostle John W Rhodes Motto Text: Luke 4:1-4 I. 1st Test: Your Belly, Authority, Power A. If you are the Son of God command the stone to become bread. But Jesus answered saying, it is written man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 1. So while Jesus was hungry, during the time of fasting, the enemy tempted him with a “counterfeit satisfaction”. We too will be hungry at times for more things of God, of life and will be our tempted to make things appear, by what we speak, instead of waiting on God.

Seek First

Bilbo Baggins said, “It is a dangerous business going out your door,” in J.R.R. Tolkien’s book, “The Lord of The Rings.” So, why do you leave your house to go to work?

Here I Am – Three Very Simple Words – But They Can Mean So Much When Sincerely Spoken

I am available – I am willing to listen – I and willing to serve – I am willing to trust – I am willing to go. “Here I am” – willing to sacrifice – I have strength and courage to face fears. “Here I am” – prepared to see miracles – and hear a message I never thought would hear – and go and do what I never thought I could go and do. “Here am I” – ready to trust the promises of God – and perhaps serve someone I thought I would never serve – and enjoy that Joy which is in Jesus Christ, and all the other blessings of GOD. January 2021 – “Here I am” – when God calls – when Jesus chooses – it is because there is a very real need – and He wants you to be part of His plan and purpose. Answer carefully.

No Matter Which Way Jesus Christ Turned It Was Significant – And That Is True For Us Too

Jesus has come up from Jericho. Go and find the colt – I need that colt. What does Jesus need from us today? Jesus could control this untamed untrained donkey immediately. It takes years to train a police horse. For many it was excitement and singing – Jesus saw it as a day of tragedy. People had been waiting a thousand years for this day – since King David reigned in Jerusalem. After David and Solomon there was civil war – and the nation never again united. Israel was then invaded – and taken off to Babylon for 70 years. The curtain was not just ruined – it was made obsolete – and we now have access to God through Jesus Christ. Our loving concerned God did it. The crowds were so disappointed with Jesus that within a few days they were shouting “Crucify Him”. You either crown Him – or kill Him.

The Selfless Act

Is it better to receive a kindness from a stranger than to share an act of kindness? Often, a spark is lit in us when someone makes us happy for no apparent gain to themselves.

What You Need

Just because you thought of something, that does not mean you had a good idea. Yet, when people pursue self-determined needs and wants, mostly they act on what they imagine. Take a moment to gain perspective, differing points of view on your needs. You may discover that you are not all that self-centered in your life.

It’s Not What Happens That Determines The Quality Of Your Life, But How You Respond To It

Everything that happens in our life reflects our inner state of being. It has to because no two people have the same lesson from their experience. Therefore, it underscores that what we think is externalised in our reality, whether we are conscious of it. Many people struggle with this idea and try to change outside circumstances to coincide with their inner state of being.

To Fight the Good Fight, and Finish the Race – We Need to Keep the Faith

Whatever situation you are in today make sure your commitment to Jesus Christ is solid and firm and sure. Remember that Jesus Christ, risen and alive, will never ever let you down, fail you or disappoint you. Like an earthquake, coronavirus has shaken, and is shaking, millions. Earthquakes are sudden, dangerous and scary. They shake what we assumed was safe, strong and stable. It is important to remember and consider the precious things coronavirus cannot touch – the unchanging, unshakeable truths that have not changed, because they cannot and will never change. Things that were true before the coronavirus will remain true long after.

How To Respond When Your Life Takes An Unexpected Turn

Most people panic when their life takes an unexpected turn. How about you? Have you experienced sudden changes in your life? If so, what lessons did you learn? Reflect on your answers as I outline how to respond when life takes an unexpected turn. There’s no doubt these experiences can be unsettling, especially if we are unprepared.

Who Is This – When You Come To Know Him As He Really Is, Your Life Will Never Again Be The Same!

People asked and needed to know then, and people, at least, need to know today. This Jesus who was born, of a virgin, at Bethlehem, was and is the Son of God – the Christ – the Messiah. We date our days from his birth, and one of his many titles is Prince of Peace and he came, and comes, offering peace to men and nations – to Jew and Gentile. His family and friends thought he was mad – insane – until their eyes were opened to see who this really was. On the cross he came to do what only God could do – forgive sin. He shed his blood and gave his life. No one could do more – not even God. This was God in the flesh – one of us, but without sin. He rose from the dead – sending out trained equipped empowered disciples – to continue his work – with the promise, “I am with you always”.

Do You Want A Real Spiritual Uplift – Then Experience The Sovereign Hand of Our Sovereign God

This is the account of God’s people told from God’s point of view. These Chapters are not merely historical, intellectual or academic – they are relevant for each of us – for all mankind. These kings had absolute power – unlike the monarch in our land. They made the laws and commanded the armies – no parliament – no voting – no opposition, politically speaking – although there was opposition – and sometimes from men of God, when the king was bad. God tells us whether the king was a good king or a bad king – depending upon his spiritual qualities. Did he worship the God of Israel, or did he bow down to idols and do evil in the sight of the Lord? Was he for morality, justice, integrity – or were these qualities lacking in his life? We read of what God regards as important. God is primarily interested in the leaders’ beliefs and behaviour. Even as we sweep through the Bible – see the Hand of God in your own life – taking time to worship Him and give thanks.

Risen, Living, Loving Lord Jesus – Hear Us – Keep Us – Strengthen Us

Man no longer needs to remain in the dark without Christ – but this broken warring world is living on the wrong side of the resurrection and it is our task to tell the world that there are answers, to all the pain and suffering and sadness and tragedy. The world would not listen to the apostles. The world would not even listen to Jesus, and it is not likely to listen to us, but it remains our task to preach and proclaim and share the Good News of Jesus Christ. The disciples were groping in the darkness between the cross and the resurrection and that is where the world is today – groping in the dark. People are so helpless now – just as they were then – as sin and evil tower over people and cause tragedy after tragedy. Many feel utterly hopeless and inadequate in the face of the grim facts of sin, and chaos, and man’s inhumanity to man. Men continue to search pathetically for some man-made humanistic solution. Our task is to point them to Jesus Christ, even when they do not want to be pointed to Jesus Christ.

As Passover Approaches, Jesus Christ Approaches Jerusalem and The Cross – He Tells Us Why!

As Jesus touches you – blesses you – speaks to you – heals you – forgives you – feeds you – calls you – follow him, all the way – to Calvary and beyond. Jesus always leads the way – but look where Jesus is going. Jesus knew what was going to happen. Luke tells us he set his face resolutely – 9 verse 51 – to go up to Jerusalem. He is determined and will not be diverted. His mind is fixed firmly. The crisis of the cross looms. It is a pivotal point. The disciples are apprehensive as Jesus explains what he is going to experience. In Mark Chapter 10, Jesus tells us WHY – to give His life as a ransom for many – to buy people back from their fallen lost sinful condition. Jesus had come to save men from their sins – and Jesus knew He came to die. The ‘wise men’ who visited Bethlehem 33 years previously indicated that, by their gifts. This sets Jesus Christ apart from ‘the founder’ of every other religion – or faith community – as we hear mentioned frequently today. Jesus Christ is unique

The Apostle Who Was a Willing Slave of Jesus Christ – Could You Be For This High Calling?

Paul had been brought up to look for the Messiah – and in this letter, Paul is saying to the world – “I have found the Messiah – I have found the Christ”. The one thing Messiah-seeking Saul of Tarsus needed to know – was that the Messiah, Jesus Christ, was alive. Circumstances were transformed radically, at Damascus, when that knowledge became part of his personal spiritual experience It is better to be a slave of Jesus Christ than to be ‘slaves to sin’ – ambition – drugs – alcohol – money – fragile temporary success – or whatever it might be. Paul was called. He did not just receive the call of Jesus Christ – he obeyed it – and he makes it clear that it is God who has called him – and who motivated and inspired him. Paul introduces himself – and gives his credentials – because his desire is to go west to Spain – and to have a base in Rome, just as he had a base in Antioch. We are called to belong – and we belong to obey.

Made by God to Serve in a Broken Hurtful Fearful World

A young lad of eight made a wooden boat. It looked very good. He went off to the seaside on holiday, and with great excitement he took his boat down to the beach to sail his creation. Off it went – but it kept going off – further and further away – until he realised he had lost it. It was gone. On the final day of the family holiday he looked in the toy shop window – and there was his boat. Someone had found it and rescued it. Pointing this out to his dad, father encouraged him to go in and buy it. Out he came, with his prized possession in his arms, and with these words – “I made you – I lost you – I have bought you back – you are twice mine!” Made by God – for a world marred and scarred and broken by sin – and sin’s sad consequences. – that is you. Made by God – to be part of the answer to this world’s massive struggle – that is you.
